Beautiful and Puzzling

Geek Toys

Frabjous Sculpture Puzzle

The Frabjous Sculpture Puzzle is a sculpture and geometric assembly puzzle. The swirling geometric form is composed of thirty identical pieces. Mathematically, the planes of the shape are the face planes of a "great rhombic triacontahedron," a self-intersecting polyhedron with thirty rhombic faces. But the puzzle piece is a carefully designed subset of the rhombus that doesn't intersect copies of itself.

Ok, so we copied most of that from the back of the Frabjous Sculpture Puzzle box. It's written by the sculpture's designer, George Hart (the Chief of Content at the Museum of Mathematics), and is very mathematical sounding. We think the Frabjous Sculpture Puzzle looks like a pretty flower. You will find it very challenging to put together (each piece is the same -sheesh!), but also very rewarding once it's completed. With your Frabjous Sculpture Puzzle assembled achievement unlocked, you will be propelled to the top of your social circle. Or, at least, you'll feel more awesome than you already are. Mathematical!

Frabjous Sculpture Puzzle
•30 identical pieces combine to form a beautiful geometric sculpture.
•Pieces are laser cut, blue frosted acrylic.
•Recommended for ages 16+.
•Includes: 30 pieces and instructions.
•Assembled Dimensions: 6" x 6" x 6"

Now the enterprise crew knows how GLaDOS felt

Star Trek Potato Heads

Like peanut butter and jelly or portals and cake, the marriage of Star Trek: The Original Series and Mr. Potato Head is a match for the ages. Both were enjoyed by children from the mid-60s and onwards into our modern era. Both involve suspension of disbelief. And if you're into writing fanfic, you're probably no stranger to Kirk stealing and wearing one of Uhura's dresses.

The folks at Mr. Potato Head teamed up with Star Trek to make these four amazing toys. Can you capture Kirk's animal magnetism in a plastic potato? Maybe not quite, but he makes us smile whenever we look at him. Each Potato Head has parts that can be exchanged with other Star Trek Potato Heads.

Product Specifications
•Amazing Star Trek themed Mr. Potato Head toys
•Modeled after characters from The Original Series
•Choose your pair:
◦Kirk & Kor the Klingon
◦Mr. Spock & Uhura - coming soon!
•Slightly smaller than a standard Mr. Potato Head
•Tiny details make them as true to TOS as a potato can get!
•Now the Enterprise crew knows how GLaDOS felt

Touch your parts to make a drum beat!

Ningen Gakki Body-Conductive Musical Instrument

We could make up a funny story here, but with the Ningen Gakki Body-Conductive Musical Instrument, truth is stranger than fiction. It looks like a littler person with metal contacts on its hands and feet. Here's what you do: get three friends to each hold onto one of these contacts, turn your Ningen Gakki Body-Conductive Musical Instrument on, and then hit each other. What results will be musical magic. Read on!

See, each time a circuit is completed (i.e. you touch someone else holding a contact) the Ningen Gakki Body-Conductive Musical Instrument plays a different sound. There are three modes: Song Mode (pick from one of 10 songs - each touch will advance the song one note); Sound Effect Mode (choose from 3 sound banks - each touch will make a sound); and Drums Mode (our favorite - your bodies become a drum set). Now, you don't really have to hit each other, any touch will do (we just think hitting each other to make a drum beat is funny). With the Ningen Gakki Body-Conductive Musical Instrument, you and your friends will be able to make beautiful music together with your bodies. Let the games (and the beats) begin!

Ningen Gakki Body-Conductive Musical Instrument
•4 people hold onto the Ningen Gakki and then touch each other to complete circuits and trigger sounds.
•It's sort of like a combination of The Three Stooges and a human beat box.
•Three Modes:

◦Song Mode - select from one of 10 songs and then each touch will advance the song one note.
◦Sound Effect Mode - select from one of 3 sound banks full off sounds from bleeps to animals.
◦Drums Mode - enjoy a really nice drum set. Slap to the beat!
•Auto shut off feature.
•Straight from Japan!
•Batteries: 2 AAA (not included).
•Dimensions: approx. 4.25" x 3.75" x 1"

Fly the TARDIS. Save the Universe!

Doctor Who Save the Universe Board Game

We know what you're thinking. Bow ties, fezzes, and Stetsons are cool. But so is flying your own TARDIS and battling against fellow Time Lords! Honestly, this is going to be one of the few times in your life you stand a chance of seeing an Adipose face-off against a Dalek with a decent chance of winning. The rules are easy, the goal simple: collect more pairs of enemy disks than everyone else. Of course, nothing is really all that simple when you're dealing with immortal adversaries with two hearts.

Here's how the game is played:

Spin the arrow and race around the TARDIS console, collecting enemy disks that feature your favorite Raxacoricofallapatorians, the Slitheen, hindbrain wielding Ood, Jundoon, and even old Davros himself. Share a square with another player and you can battle it out to take one of their enemy disks. Will your Weeping Angel beat their Cyberman? Just be careful - landing on the time vortex may have interesting consequences, in the Hoban Washburne definition of interesting.

Product Specifications
•For Ages 6+
•2-6 players
•Game circle folds out to reveal a TARDIS control panel as the board for your adventure
•Box includes dice, tokens, spinning arrow and TARDIS - the only thing missing is you and your friends!
•Actual knowledge of temporal mechanics - or even Doctor Who - not required

MamaRoo Bouncer

Geek Toys

The MamaRoo Bouncer is the ultimate bouncer for developing the geek in your new baby. Begone, days of bouncers that only bounce! The MamaRoo's seat moves up and down and side to side, just like a real Mama! Programmed into the seat are five movement modes: car ride, kangaroo, tree swing, rock-a-bye, and ocean. The seat can recline for napping or be more upright for play. The LCD display makes operating your MamaRoo a breeze.

Three plush balls in the mobile are decorated in the style of Van Gogh, Monet, and Seurat to engage the wee creative brain. Here's where MamaRoo's attention to detail blew us away. The balls are black and white on one side and color on the other. Why? Because that's what's best for baby's brain! Newly-forged neurons love the high contrast of black and white. As baby gets older, flip the balls to the color side and it's a whole new world of visual stimulation. The toy bar pivots for easy access for insertion and removal of baby.

The MamaRoo comes with built-in nature sounds for baby soothing, but you can hook your mp3 player to your MamaRoo if your baby prefers to rock out to L. Hadron and the Colliders. You know that day when your baby insists on you singing the same song over and over OR ELSE? Save your vocal cords! Set the mp3 player to repeat the tune and do your best Milli Vanilli impression. Zen and the Art of Wire Management

iStubz iPhone Sync / Charge Cable

It is said that a clean desktop is a sign of an uncluttered mind. Do you know who said that? Ki Lo Ni, the Great Teacher. Meditate on this truth with us. Ohmmmmmmmm. Truthfully, if you look down at your desk now, and you don't see what looks like a spaghetti tangle of wiring, consider yourself lucky. That sort of organization leads to a healthy mind, and inner awareness. However, not all devices can work effectively without wires. Wireless charging and syncing is still in its infancy, and not supported by all devices. If you own an iPhone and you'd like to charge and sync your phone without adding a half-meter of white-wire coils to your workstation, you can attempt to cut and splice your cable (not recommended) or go with our extra-short iStubz Sync and Charge cable. Three tiny inches will more than satisfy.
